Local donation of Christmas Bonus from a local supporter is very gratefully received! A cheque for £165 (their Christmas Bonus) arrived in the post on Friday. This is a very generous donation and we're all very thankful that you thought of the Going Home horses.
Our New Year newsletter has produced some great offers of help! We have 3 new volunteers (Janette, Gill and Maya), together with some very generous gifts of tack and rugs that will help us to save our pennies! It really does all make a difference as we're saving up for a new arena surface and a horse trailer.... Thank you.
Looking for a lovely well schooled and healthy horse to have some fun with in 2012? Well, we have 4 that could fit the bill.... from a lovely little section A pony to a proven competition horse..... Why risk an expensive purchase when you can loan a lovely horse or pony who is a known quantity?
Delighted to report that our new boy is here. We picked him up early, he loaded and travelled well and now he's cosy in his stable, meeting a couple of new friends in neibouring boxes and taking everything in. He seems like a delightful boy and we're looking forward to picking up his education.
New boy arriving on 11th December! We're collecting the lovely Caesar on Sunday. He is 6, around 16 2, a medium weight WBx and gorgeous. He's by the Grade 1 WB stallion Fulton - we don't think he'll be as good as his father, but we hope that he will become an impressive allrounder and be ready for a knowledgeable home by May 2012. He is a big, bouncy affectionate boy...
After a lot of groundwork and hundreds of tons of stone, we're almost ready to turn out our cob herd on the new "Paddock Paradise" system. The plan is that they will not get as muddy, have more natural hoof wear and have to move more for their food, water and shelter - basically to try to imitate some of the activities of the true native horses living out all year round and foraging for feed.
